Mission Statement

The Pistol Prodigies Youth Pistol Team is a youth development program that uses the shooting sports to teach SAFETY, Responsibility and Teamwork,
​to student athletes of all ages.

In our 1st 8 Seasons we competed in:

18 Local Matches
2 Winter Fun Shoots
8 Michigan State Championships
3 Ohio Regional Matches
4 Ohio State Shoots
2 Wisconsin Regional Matches
2 Wisconsin State Championships
8 National Championships

And we're ready our 2022-23 season!
The Pistol Prodigies Youth Pistol Team Inc. is open to young women and men, in 3rd to 12th grade, and (full-time) collegiate students. Competition is Action (speed) shooting on steel targets, within the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP). SASP is a division of the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF). A team is composed of all the Student Athletes registered under a Head Coach. A Competitive Squad is 4 Student Athletes in same division/category. There is no limit to how many squads a team may have. Multiple squads can compete within the same group/division.

DISCIPLINES

PISTOL – Centerfire, Rimfire, 1911, Optic Sight Rimfire, Optic Sight Centerfire, Rimfire Revolver, Centerfire Revolver
RIFLE – Rimfire Iron Sight, Rimfire Optic Sight, Pistol Caliber Carbine


*AGE DIVISIONS AND CATEGORIES
1. "Rookie" Division - Grades 5 and under (Rifle ONLY!)
2. Intermediate Division - Grades 6-8
  • Entry Level - 1st year of participation in the intermediate division
  • Advanced Level - After 1 year of participation in the intermediate division
3. Senior Division - Grades 9-12
  • Junior Varsity - 1st year of participation in the senior division
  • Varsity - After 1 year of participation in the senior division
4. Collegiate
  • Must be full-time college students, up to age 26.
5. Open Division - Competitive squad of athletes from a singe team with multiple classifications. The purpose of the Open Division is to allow coaches to bring athletes to a match and compete as a group of athletes that normally would not be allowed. Rookie, Intermediate and Senior Division athletes who compete in the Open Division will compete against other athletes in the Intermediate and Senior divisions. Those in the College Open division will compete against other Open Division teams.

All student athletes must be "academically eligible" (per their school's guidelines) to compete.

SAFETY will be stressed at all times. Sportsmanship, Teamwork and Fun are also big factors in our program.

Student Athletes will need (in part):
  • Semi-automatic Handgun (.22LR pistol)
  • Semi-automatic "detachable box magazine" rifle (.22LR)
  • ​Semi-automatic "detachable box magainze" PCC rifle (9mm)
  • Ammunition (approx 100 rounds per practice, 300+ rounds per match)
  • Ear protection
  • Eye protection
  • GREAT attitude about SAFETY!
  • Strong Commitment to the Team.
  • Desire to have fun while learning life skills.
